DOVER, Del. (AP) - Gov. Jack Markell has picked a 24-year veteran of the Delaware State Police to be the new leader of the force.
Major Nathaniel McQueen Jr., whose promotion was announced Wednesday, is the first black trooper to be named state police superintendent.
The 46-year-old McQueen will assume command following the retirement of Col. Robert Coupe on Dec. 21.
McQueen has served since 2009 as operational commander of all troopers in New Castle County.
