Heatwave Hits Georgetown

The heat wave has hit with a vengeance.

In Georgetown the average high this month has been 93.4 degrees as of Wednesday with 12 days above 90.

There have also been four 100-plus degree days this summer twice this month and twice in June.

Hospitals are dealing with the heat-related illnesses which can include heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat-related rash.

The most at risk are the very young and the elderly.

Chip Guy, a spokesman for Sussex county told the Salisbury Daily Times, that when the temperatures hit above a hundred local officials will let the public know about the cooling stations at the three county-owned libraries.

In addition, paramedics are on call to stop by those locations to aid those who require help with medication.
