DOVER, Del. (AP) - Officials are gathering in Dover for the organizational meeting of Delaware's new Council Of Faith-Based Partnerships.
Gov. Jack Markell created the council by executive order in January. Its purpose to improve communication and collaboration among faith-based organizations and government service providers.
Markell said at the time that faith-based organizations and government entities can work together to strengthen communities in areas such as education, social services, health, public safety and housing.
The first meeting of the council is scheduled for Wednesday morning at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Dover Stake Center in Dover.
