The Salisbury City Council is set to take up today a new plan by Mayor Jim Ireton for a redevelopment district for the downtown area that would eliminate several parking lots.
Ireton says that a recent study found there would still be plenty of parking in the downtown area with the plan.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that over a month and a half’s time the city actually counted the spaces used in the downtown area by the parking garage and five nearby lots.
Ireton says that no single politician or blog can argue there is a problem with parking in downtown.
