September 6-12, 2021

Welcome to Salisbury University’s Cultural Calendar Highlights for the week of September 6.

The Balla Kouyaté Ensemble helps welcome the National Folk Festival back to Salisbury with a concert on campus Thursday, September 9. Kouyaté is a world-renowned balafon player, part of a family lineage of 800 years that continues to uphold West African traditions.

Looking ahead, SU’s spring Writers on the Shore literary series begins with a Creative Writing Festival on Wednesday, September 15. Students from the Creative Writing Program read a wide variety of their work to celebrate the new academic year.

In music events, the Allegheny Trio, comprised of cellist Jeffrey Schoyen, violinist Sachi Murasugi and pianist Ernest Barretta, performs its annual SU fall concert Wednesday, September 29, at Asbury United Methodist Church.

Most SU events return in-person this semester. Off-campus visitors should complete an online COVID-19 assessment, located on the SU website, prior to visiting. Face masks are required. For more information, including times and locations, visit the SU website at salisbury.edu/events.
