Ocean City Considers Upping Parking Rates

Don Rush

Ocean City is looking at increasing its parking rates.

WBOC reports these include rates at the Inlet and municipal lots as well as street parking.

City Engineer Terry McGean says that the resort’s taskforce is considering a number of options.

The efforts are designed to meet the services that are required during the busy tourist season.

But the make thing easier the resort is also considering making week day parking free during the shoulder season.

In addition, more street parking may be made available as well as offering certain types of discounts.

McGean says the resort wants to increase revenue but not raise taxes for people who live in the resort.
