SBY African American Walking Tour: The Church (Part 1)

Don Rush
Inside the Chipman Cultural Center

The church was founded by free blacks and completed in 1838. Eventually it became the John Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church. The Nabb Research Center has designated it as one of the stops on its Walking Tour of the African American community in Salisbury. Delmarva Public Media's Don Rush looks at its history and how it connected to the growing black community.

Don Rush is the News Director and Senior Producer of News and Public Affairs at Delmarva Public Media. An award-winning journalist, Don reports major local issues of the day, from sea level rise, to urban development, to the changing demographics of Delmarva.
