Tributes are being made to Spencer Wiersberg a member of the Fruitland Police Department.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the 23-year-old officer died after a 10-month struggle with bone cancer.
He joined the force after graduating from the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy in June of 2018.
Among the officials offering tributes were Governor Larry Hogan and the Mayor of Salisbury Jake Day.
