Governor Martin O’Malley has announced that the state will get $2.3 million in grants from the federal Violence Against Women Act.
The Services Training Officers Prosecutors program will provide money for 73 projects across the state.
O’Malley said that one of the strategic goals of his administration is to bring down violence against children and women.
The announcement comes at the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County which is one of the organizations receiving funding to offer services for victims of domestic violence.
The aim of the program is to bring together law enforcement, health care providers, faith leaders and others to protect victims of domestic violence.
