Downtown Revitalization Dominates Salisbury Community Meeting

Don Rush

During the Salisbury City Council’s quarterly community meeting, revitalization of the downtown area took center stage.

Covering the walls of Parker Place, an antique store,  were designs for buildings and space in the downtown area that have been developed by architecture students at the University of Maryland.

Council Vice President Laura Mitchell said,“Out of these come some wonderful ideas. They may be scaled down or scaled up from what’s envisioned in these drawings. But they did exactly what we asked them to do, dream and dream big. And I think that’s what all of Salisbury is doing right now and all the regions are doing right now. Like, hey, we can do this. We can do that.”

Next summer the city will begin construction that is aimed at overhauling downtown with upgrades and repairs to water, sewer and storm water management systems as well as a general facelift.
