Eye Protective Gear for Riders of Mopeds and Motor Scooters Up for Vote in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Maryland Senate is scheduled to take a final vote on a bill that would require moped and motor scooter riders to wear helmets.

Senators are expected to consider the bill Thursday.

Sponsored by Baltimore County Democrat Sen. Kathy Klausmeier, the legislation would also require scooter and moped drivers to have protective eyewear if they do not have a windscreen.

A version of the bill was introduced last year, but it was referred to the House of Delegates Environmental Matters Committee to be studied in the interim between legislative sessions.
