Conversation with Pianist Anthony Wonsey 11/22/21

After attending Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship, Anthony Wonsey emerged in the early nineties as one of the most adept young pianists on the American jazz scene.  Now in his late forties, Wonsey has worked with a who’s who of modern jazz including Kenny Garrett, Nicholas Payton, Elvin Jones and Roy Hargrove. Recently, he spoke with WESM’s Peter Solomon about his pathway into music, some of the musicians who mentored him and the making of his new Cellar records release Lorraine’s Lullaby.

Peter Solomon is WESM's Music Director and host of Morning Jazz Unlimited, weekdays from 9 am to noon on WESM. He joined Delmarva Public Media in August 2021 after 22 years as a jazz host for an NPR affiliate in Richmond, Virginia.
